Johan – Zwolle

Johan van Schoten has been living at the protest camp in Zwolle since the spring of 2019. Although he was registered for a pitch from the age of 18, he has not received one to date. He is now 40 years old. Until the age of 30 he lived with his parents, at the camp in Oldenbroek. Then he chose a house after all. As a result of the extinction policy then applied, a house of stone was the only option to build a life of his own. It became a flat on the 10th floor. The walls were closing in on him and he became seriously depressed. In the small caravan on the protest camp, he is doing much better. Johan will stay here until he is assigned a stand.

Johan - Camp Zwolle

On October 31, 2019, the municipality’s filed a lawsuit against the protest camp. The verdict followed on 27 November, which was not positive. As a result, the protest camp had to be vacated by January 7, 2020. So, Johan had to give up his small caravan and had to go back to his flat, a stone’s throw from the protest camp. He fears that the depression he lost in his car will return in all its intensity.
